Congressman Mullin Votes to Promote Adoption
WASHINGTON – Congressman Markwayne Mullin (OK-2) today voted to promote adoption and to encourage the adoption of children in foster care.
“As an adoptive father, I believe all children deserve loving families,” said Mullin. “I was pleased to support this legislation to encourage adoption and reduce the number of children in foster care awaiting a permanent home.”
Congress voted to unanimously pass H.R. 3205, which reauthorizes the Adoption Incentives Program through FY 2016. Among other provisions, it makes improvements to the state reward structure and includes a new award category for increases in the rate of adoption of children above the age of 14.
The Adoption Incentives program provides federal bonuses for states that increase adoptions from children in foster care.
