Reps. Mullin and Payne, Jr. Introduce Resolution to Support Efforts of Health and Wellness Coaches
As co-chairs of the Congressional Men’s Health Caucus, Congressman Markwayne Mullin (OK-2) and Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. (NJ-10) introduced a bipartisan House resolution expressing support for health and wellness coaches.
“Over 80 million Americans over the age of six are physically inactive,” said Rep. Markwayne Mullin (OK-2). “Health and wellness coaches play a vital role in helping Americans go the distance when it comes to eating healthy, incorporating physical activity into their lives, and living an overall healthy lifestyle. It is great to work alongside Congressman Payne, Jr. to recognize our health and wellness coaches across the country and celebrate National Health and Wellness Coach Recognition Week.”
“It is estimated that nearly 70 percent of health care dollars are spent on lifestyle-related diseases,” said Rep. Donald M. Payne, Jr. (NJ-10). “Health coaches can decrease the cost of lifestyle-related diseases by helping people achieve their personal health and wellness goals. Healthy habits are not always easily achievable when a patient is working alone, but health coaches are there to ensure people succeed in taking control of their health. I am proud to work with Congressman Mullin to improve health care outcomes and honor health coaches.”
Reps. Mullin and Payne, Jr. are co-chairs of the Congressional Men’s Health Caucus.
