Mullin Opposes Partisan January 6th Commission Bill
Washington,
May 20, 2021
Congressman Markwayne Mullin (OK-02) released the following statement after voting against H.R. 3233, which establishes a commission to investigate the attack at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. “We cannot look at what happened on January 6th without looking at what happened leading up to that day,” Mullin said. “A partisan commission that will only look to point fingers and find someone to blame won’t bring us together as a country, it will further divide us. We all share some responsibility for what happened that day, elected officials, the media, and the American people. We have all been fanning the flames for too long and we must find a better, more civil way to debate. I believe there are lessons we can learn from what happened on January 6th, but this commission is the wrong way to go about it.” |
