Congressman Markwayne Mullin released the following statement after Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt was confirmed by the Senate to serve as the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
“I’m thrilled to see Scott Pruitt confirmed by the Senate today as the EPA Administrator,” Mullin said. “Business owners, farmers, and many more Oklahomans have been suffocating under the heavy-handed regulations of the Obama Administration for far too long. The regulatory environment created by the previous administration made it nearly impossible for Oklahomans to live on their own property – let alone make a living on it.”
“Scott understands that each state has its own unique opportunities to create jobs, increase economic impact, and use its resources,” Mullin added. “States shouldn’t have to operate under the excessive rules the federal government puts on them, but instead should have the power to regulate themselves. Scott has served the great state of Oklahoma well as our Attorney General and I look forward to watching him serve our nation in this new role.”
The Senate confirmed Scott Pruitt on Friday by a vote of 52 – 46.
