Honoring Our Veterans

On Veterans Day, we remember and honor the brave men and women who have served in our armed forces. It is important as a nation that we stop and reflect on the sacrifices these men and women made on our behalf, so we could live free in the greatest country in the world.
When our veterans sign up for service, they commit to protecting the lives of all Americans. We owe no greater debt than to those who have put their lives on the line to defend our freedoms and it is imperative we keep our commitment to them.
I take my responsibility of serving our veterans here in Congress seriously and I will continue to support measures that are beneficial to our active service members, veterans, and military retirees. I have introduced legislation to fix accessibility problems with the VA Choice Program, expand GI Bill education benefits, improve investigations and audits in VA hospitals, and give veterans more access to mental health care.
Earlier this year, I was honored to attend the groundbreaking for the new VA hospital in Tulsa. This facility is a step in the right direction to ensure our veterans get the quality, accessible health care they need. Building this new hospital and transforming the Muskogee VA into a specialty behavioral health facility will improve care for veterans across Eastern Oklahoma.
My office can assist veterans with a variety of issues from tracking down lost decorations to navigating the bureaucratic VA. I have two veterans currently working in my office who are giving back to other veterans. William Barnes, Sgt. U.S. Army Ret. and Jason Self, Sgt. U.S. Army Ret. have had tremendous success with hundreds of cases and understand the issues that these men and women face. If you are a veteran or if you know a veteran who is experiencing a challenge, please contact one of my offices. Our team would love to help you.
There will never be enough words to express our gratitude for those who answered the call to serve. Today, and every day, we are grateful for our veterans.
