Mullin Statement on Passage of RACE for Children Act
Congressman Markwayne Mullin (OK-2) released the following statement after the passage of the Research to Accelerate Cures and Equity (RACE) for Children Act.
“The medical developments in adult cancer treatment drugs are years ahead of the developments for our smaller and more vulnerable pediatric patients,” Mullin said. “The RACE for Children Act aims to close that gap by requiring that regulation catch up with innovation.”
“RACE requires that pharmaceutical companies study the effects of oncology drugs on children in clinical trials before administering them to a pediatric population,” Mullin added. “The passage of the RACE for Children Act updates preexisting law so that children and their families battling cancer can receive the lifesaving treatments they need. I am thrilled to see it pass the House in a bipartisan manner today and look forward to its passage in the Senate.”
Congressman Mullin spoke on the House floor during general debate in support of the RACE for Children Act.
