The EPA’s final rule continues the pattern of agenda-driven policy that we have seen from this president and his administration. Many American families cannot afford the real-life cost of this rule—the loss of jobs and increase in electricity rates will have profound impacts on all of our neighbors, but especially those who are already struggling to pay their bills. I am deeply disappointed to see that the EPA disregarded important feedback it received from states, industry, and stakeholder groups in the final rule. The U.S. House of Representatives has already passed a bill to delay this so-called Clean Power Plan, and I will continue to work in the House Energy and Commerce Committee to fight this rule and protect the American people from the president’s costly agenda.
