Congressman Markwayne Mullin (OK-2) voted today in support of H.R. 1, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, to deliver significant tax relief to Oklahoma’s families and small businesses. “For thirty-one years, Oklahoma’s families have struggled to get ahead under our increasingly burdensome tax code,” said Mullin. “The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act provides real relief to the hardworking Oklahomans who need it most. Starting next year, Oklahomans will see their paycheck stretch further, simply because they are going to keep more of it in the first place. For example, the average family of four in Oklahoma’s Second District is going to receive a $1,643 tax cut under our bill and regain the power to spend their dollars in a way that works best for their family.” “Additionally, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act delivers the jumpstart our businesses need to invest, grow, and succeed,” said Mullin. “This pro-growth tax reform allows small businesses to create the new jobs and investments necessary to compete in the global market. I’m proud to be a part of this historic tax reform that will keep more money in our local communities and stimulate our national economy. I look forward to the Senate moving quickly so that we can deliver on our promise to the American people and send the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to the president’s desk before the year’s end.” H.R. 1 passed the House by a vote of 227 - 203. The bill now moves to the Senate for consideration. |
