As co-chairs of the Congressional Men’s Health Caucus, Congressman Markwayne Mullin (OK-2) and Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. (NJ-10) introduced a bipartisan House resolution expressing support for health and wellness coaches and designating the week of February 12th as National Health and Wellness Coach Recognition Week.
“Healthy eating habits and a regular fitness routine are fundamental to a healthy lifestyle,” said Mullin. “However, sometimes it can be difficult to go it alone. That’s where our health and wellness coaches come in. These individuals dedicate their lives to encouraging healthy lifestyles and helping their clients reach their fitness goals. By advocating for all around healthier lifestyles, our health and wellness coaches are doing their part to reduce chronic disease in our communities and fighting the obesity epidemic in our country. I’m proud that my colleague and I are introducing this important resolution to recognize their work.”
“Chronic diseases cost the U.S. economy more than $1 trillion per year,” said Payne, Jr. “Health coaches provide people with the direct support they need to make and maintain smart lifestyle choices that reduce the effects of chronic diseases. I’m proud to support health and wellness coaches, who are helping people make positive lifestyle changes.”
Reps. Mullin and Payne, Jr. are co-chairs of the Congressional Men’s Health Caucus.
